WORKSHOP ON EFFECTIVE PATENT DRAFTING

The program started by 9.30 am with a Silent prayer in fond memory of Late Shri. P. K. Das Founder Chairman, NGI) followed by Universal Prayer. Principal Dr. N. Gunasekaran welcomed the gathering after giving an insight into the workshop. The Presidential address was given by Adv. Dr. P. Krishnadas (Chairman & Managing Trustee, NGI) who inaugurated the workshop. He pointed out the importance of patenting in the current scenario. Dr. K. Radhakrishnan (Advisor, NGI) felicitated the workshop and briefed about the need of generating innovative ideas for the development of society. Chairman handed over the mementos as a token of gratitude to the resource persons Shri. S. Thangapandian (Deputy Controller of Patents and Designs, Patent Office Chennai) and Smt. Gomati Padma Thilaga S (Scientist ,Patent Information Centre, TSCST, Chennai). Dr. Shine K. (NGI TBI Coordinator, Kerala) briefed about the sessions of the workshop and delivered Vote of thanks for the inaugural session.

First session of the workshop was handled by Shri. S. Thangapandian on the topic ‘Importance of IPR Filing and Best Practices’. It was a very interactive session. Dr. Thilakanandan Principal, Nehru Academy of Law had a detailed interaction with the resource person during the session along with law college students. Second session of the workshop was handled by Smt. Gomati Padma Thilaga S on the topic ‘Tools for Patent Search’ . She demonstrated how to use WIPO portal for patent search. It was a very informative session. Dr. Umesha HoD, ECE Dept. raised query regarding the acceptance of  digital signature in patent filing. Dr. N. Gunashekaran Principal, JCET concluded the session by extending gratitude towards the resource people and TBI for conducting such an informative session.

160 participants attended the workshop including Principals, HoDs, faculty members and students from various institutions of NGI.
