5th International Yoga Day – Nehru Arts & Science College – Autonomous

Nehru Arts and Science College (NASC) has emerged from the galaxy of Nehru Group of Institutions with the motto “Knowledge is Wisdom”. This institution was established in 1998 with 04 programmes and 54 students, has grown to the extent of catering with 23 UG, 09 PG, 09 Ph. D., 10 M. Phil. and 17 Enrichment Programmes.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nehru Arts and Science College took initiative to fulfill the United Nations decision to observe International Yoga Day and arranged events with the help of various components of the Institution.  The following events took place in and around campus today.

  1. International Yoga Day for Women Excellence
  2. International day of Yoga
  3. Yoga Training Programme to School Children
  4. Awareness programme to housewives in neighborhood
  5. Awareness Rally in neighborhood

International Yoga Day for Women Excellence

Nehru Centre for Women Excellence in association with Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Coimbatore had conducted International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019.  In this event Mr. A. Shanmugam, Member of Legislative Assembly was the chief guest of the day.  In his speech, he stressed the importance of Yoga in the present stressful world.  Various competitions on yoga have been conducted by the centre and Prizes and medals were distributed the winners by the chief guest.

Mr. Balasubramanian, Faculty of Arts of living had demonstrated the yoga for the students and faculties. Dr. B. Anuridhan, Principal, NASC presided the event. Mrs. Kareena B. Thangam, Assistant Director, Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting  delivered a special address in the event.  Around 1000 Girls students and 50 female faculties and principal of the Institution were actively participated and benefitted out of this event.

Department of Physical Education organized International day of Yoga – 2109 on 21.06.19. Mr. Prabhakaran & Mr. Binil, Volunteers from Isha Yoga Centre, Coimbatore served as the resource person of the day. Dr. B. Anirudhan, Principal, NASC presided over the function. Mr. SenthilKumar, Physical Director, NASC delivered the welcome address. More than 250 men students of our college actively participated in the session.                      Dr. Moses Daniel, Principal, NIITM  presented  the Memento to the resource person.

Yoga Training Programme to School Children

In connection with International Yoga Day celebrations-2019, Unnat Bharath Abhiyan Cell, Nehru Arts and Science College (NASC) conducted one training yoga training programme to school children in Panchapalyam Government High School on 21.06.19. The yoga students of NASC  demonstrated yoga asanas to the students for 30 minutes and then teach basic yoga exercises and asanas to the school students. Students from 5th standard to 8th standard participated and benefitted in the programme. The School headmistress and other teachers were present in the programme.

Awareness Programme to Housewives in Adopted Village

In connection with International Yoga Day celebrations-2019, NSS unit-II of Nehru Arts and Science College (NASC) conducted one training awareness programme to women  in Panchapalyam on 21.06.19. The NSS students visited each house holds and created awareness on the benefits of yoga and its importance in maintaining our health. They encouraged the women to form a community group to get train and practice the yoga programme regularly.

Awareness Rally in neighborhood

In connection with International Yoga Day celebrations-2019, National Service Scheme of  Nehru Arts and Science College organized a rally program for creating awareness  in the neighbourhood village and a huge number of people witnessed the same.

The whole day was a celebration day of Yoga and the campus was vibrant. Students and members of Faculty and administrative staff actively participated and benefitted.  We extended our hands to the neighbourhood also.
