Environment day – Nehru College of Nursing

World Environment Day is the “people’s day” for doing something to take care of the earth. It is the UN day for encouraging world wide awareness and action to protect our environment.World Environment Day started since 1974. This year host country for official celebration is China. The theme for 2019 is “Air pollution”. Air pollution facts are: 92% of people worldwide do not breathe clean air. Air pollution costs global economy 5 trillion pounds every year.WHO report said air pollution is one of the leading threats to child health,accounting for almost one in 10 deaths in children under five years of age. So let us make greenery around us by plants.

Nehru College of Nursing, Vaniyamkulam extends it’s hands into the nature by organising World Environment Day which has been raising awareness, supporting action, and driving changes for the environment. Principal , Prof Tamil Selvi has done the inauguration of World Environment Day on 17th June, 2019 by planting a Guva tree. Also revealed the theme of this year “Air Pollution”. Each batch students along with their faculties, SNA Unit, Teaching faculty and nonteaching staff had planted different types of trees and vegetable plants. The whole NCN team was so actively participated in the event.
