DISTRICT TUBERCULOSIS CENTRE (DTC) UNIT VISIT

The key level for the management of public health services is the district​ level. The District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC) is the nodal point for tuberculosis (TB) prevention and care activities in the district​.Functions of the DTC includes,the central program management unit of the district responsible for all activities related to National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) implementation such as:advocacy, active case finding, diagnosis, treatment (both for drug-susceptible and drug-resistant TB patients) and follow up, managing comorbidities, service delivery, maintaining diagnostic and treatment infrastructure , Setting up Drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) centres, Ensuring community engagement and TB forums, multi-sectorial involvement for drug management, and supervision and monitoring, Financial management, drugs, logistics and supply chain management.

On 03.08.2023 Nehru college of Nursing students visited Tuberculosis Centre palakkad. This tuberculosis centre was separated from other areas of hospital. we reached this around 10.00 am and we were 30 members participated on the first day ,the visited for the balance 30 members planned on the next day.

On the day of visit students was headed by   Mr. Nowfel  and   Mrs.Rose jose. This TB unit is washing along with  national tuberculosis elimination programme after entering to their we had a class leaded by Mr. Akshay he gives us information about Tb its disease condition and above the transmission are discussed after the class we had  a another session of class about the pharmacology of medication that we used to the treat TB and was taken by Mr. Ibrahim.

After the class students  gone for how the TB are diagnosed in there the sampling method was explained by the microbiologist and lab technical they were educated us about the technique that they used to diagnosis the TB students   got  a lot of new knowledge regarding  its management especially importance of dor’s therapy and also the financial given by the government.
