MAY 24 2023 WORLD SCHIZOPHRENIA DAY

Cases with descriptions associated with schizophrenics began to be recorded in the 17,00s; the disease has been around since early civilization. This disorder affects about 3/1000 individuals. It is more common in men, and in terms of age of onset, men tend to be younger by an average of about five years than women when they develop schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by persistent psychotic symptoms.

As a part of this special day, Psychiatric Guild Palakkad and Manomithra Psychiatric Care and Counselling Centre Palakkad jointly conducted a motivational seminar in Golden hall of Joby’s mall, Palakkad on 24/05/2023 from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. The program was started with a prayer followed by an inauguration ceremony by lighting lamp, presidential address, felicitation and vote of thanks. Students from different institutions was participated in the seminar. 20 students were participated in the program behalf of Nehru College of Nursing. After the tea break the seminar was started by Mr. Parthasarathi R, consultant psychologist, Manomithra. The topics included are illegal drug use after Covid-19, related suicides and crimes and early detection of such problems and its prevention. The session was very effective and motivational.
