Sports Day 2023
Nehru International School, celebrated its 2nd Annual sports day on 8th September 2023 amidst great ardour and enthusiasm. The chief guest of this event was Mr. D. Dhilip, Junior International Volleyball player, southern Railways. We honoured our esteemed Chairman and managing trustee, Dr.P. Krishna Das, Our CEO and Secretary of NGI, Dr. P. Krishnakumar and our Correspondent of NIS & NKA Dr. Chaitanya Krishnakumar, in their absence.
Mr. K.S. Sivaprakash, Principal and Headmistress Ms. Priya Suresh, members of the student organizing committee, and a large gathering of parents with their children were present to witness the grand event.
The chief guest was escorted by our band students on to the stage and greeted with bouquet. The event opened with a synchronized March past with a contingent of our students followed by Head Boy, Head Girl, all our House captain and Vice captains. The Honourable dignitaries lightened the Olympic torch and the students took the oath administered by the school Sports Captain P.C Adharshini of Grade VIII. The Dignitaries hoisted the National flag, Olympic flag and School flag. The school Annual Sports Meet was declared open by our Chief Guest. To mark the symbol of unity, diversity and purity White Doves were released as the mark of the sports day and sports man spirit. The principal welcomed the gathering and the Sports Annual report was read by Mr. Arul Marcel Bernard, Physical Director.
The chief guest addressed and emphasized that the students should participate in all the events and sports is not winning or losing and just work as a community. He insisted the students to work in team with cooperation as well as they have to maintain their mind and body.
The students from grade 6 to 8 actively participated in the 100 mts and 200 mts running race finals. The Prizes were distributed by our honorable dignitaries for the winners. Students of Grade 3-5 performed Pim Pom Dance, Grade 5-8 students displayed Martial Arts, and Grade
1 & 2 students performed Zumba dance, enchanting everyone with their rhythmical movements. Then the Mass Drill was performed by Grade 6-10 students and Relay finals were done by them. Lucky corner Game was conducted for the parent and the prize was distributed to the winning parent. Finally, all the winners of the various events were awarded for their outstanding spirit of sportsmanship. The Terra House was declared the overall Best House in Sports events.
