Independence Day Celebration
Nehru International School marked a memorable 77th Independence Day celebration within the school premises on 15th August, 2023. The event was a vibrant display of patriotism and talent, featuring a range of activities and performances that captured the essence of India’s freedom struggle and its progress since.
The celebration commenced with the melodious rendition of “Tamil Thai Vazhthu” by the school choir group, filling the atmosphere with a sense of pride and unity. This was followed by an English prayer song performed by the students, setting the tone for the rest of the event.
Ms. Priya Suresh, the Headmistress, welcomed the attendees and set the stage for the rest of the program. Her warm words resonated with the spirit of the occasion, fostering a sense of togetherness among the students, teachers, and guests.
Mr. K.S. Sivaprakash, Principal took the honor of unfurling the national flag, an emblem of India’s freedom and unity. The audience stood in reverence as the flag fluttered proudly in the wind.
Following the flag hoisting, the head girl Rithuparna Ramdas led the gathering in reciting the national pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the country’s ideals. Principal Mr. K.S. Sivaprakash then delivered an insightful address, reflecting on the significance of Independence Day and the role of education in nurturing responsible citizens.
Grade IX students showcased their oratory skills with an eloquent English speech, delving into the historical importance of Independence Day and its relevance in the modern world. Later, Grade X student Able N Baby delivered a passionate Hindi speech, emphasizing the values of freedom, unity, and progress.
The celebration continued with an array of captivating performances. A dance performance by Grade 3-5 students enchanted the audience, displaying their remarkable talents. Equally impressive was the dance by Grade 6-8 students, adding a vibrant touch to the festivities.
Grade VII students presented a touching Tamil speech, connecting the younger generation to their cultural roots and history. A group song performed by Grade 4-8 students showcased the unity in diversity that India represents.
As the event reached its culmination, the entire school community came together for a spectacular group song, symbolizing the collective harmony that Independence Day signifies. The grand finale was a dance performance by Grade 6-8 students, leaving everyone in awe.
Ms. Kavitha R from the Tamil Department delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and attendees. Her words encapsulated the spirit of appreciation and collaboration that made the celebration a success.
The Independence Day celebration at Nehru International School was a resounding success, blending cultural expression, patriotic fervor, and educational insights.
