WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY MAY
The WHO South East Asia Region is accelerating action to prevent, detect and control hypertension which affects an estimated 1.28 billion people globally, two thirds of them in low –and middle – income countries. The theme of this year’s World Hypertension Day – “Measure Your Blood Pressure, Control it, Live Longer”– highlights the need to increase the awareness and access for all people in the region to quality hypertension services.
As a part of this special day, Mental Health Department along with third year BSc nursing students conducted a programme in PK Das Institute of Medical Sciences on 17/05/2023 at 2pm. Students started the programme with an introduction regarding the day and the programme. Programme began with a flash mob and a role play. 20 students were participated in the programme and 50-80 audiences (clients, bystanders and other hospital staffs) witnessed the programme. The role play was very informative and useful for the people and they covered onset, its causes, manifestations and management of hypertension in a comic and interesting way. The session was ended with a health education regarding hypertension. We realized that the programme made the people aware about hypertension when reviewed the feedback from audience.
