ENFANCE EPEIGON (International workshop on childhood emergencies

Pregnancy, ensuring delivery, motherhood and rearing children are some of the most beautiful phases in a person’s life. During all these phases, women as well as children including neonates require special attention and care General Practitioners frequently see children with medical conditions that may evolve into an emergency if not promptly attended to. The most common emergencies encountered in pediatric office practice are respiratory distress, dehydration, anaphylaxis, seizures and trauma.. Acute and life-threatening conditions are not uncommon in general practice, but when they do occur, they require prompt and meticulous care as faulty treatment or delays in management can mean the difference between survival and death.

On behalf of Children’s day and New born week 2022 Child Health Nursing Department of Nehru College of Nursing organized  2 days workshop regarding Child hood emergencies,” Enfance Epigeone” on 24th and 25th November 2022 with KNMC Credit hours – 18 ( C/89704/2022/NC-CNE)

The workshop was led by Eminent speakers from various aspects of Pediatric Health from national & international levels. The program officially stared on 24th Nov 2022 with the inaugural session by lighting the lamp by Mrs Sumitha Krishndas (Management representative NGI ) Dr. Kavitha mole  P J, (Principal Nehru College of Nursing) was welcomed the gatherings. The official session concluded with a token of gratitude by Mrs. Priya Marry Stella, (Vice principal of Nehru College of Nursing) Mrs. Sumitha Krishna Das (Management representative NGI)  honed the speaker of the day Dr. Ravikumar MD Neonatologist with a token of love on behalf of NCN

This was followed by a session regarding Neonatal Advanced Life support  (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life support ( PALS)  by Dr. Ravikumar. M D (Neonatologist of PK Das institute of Medical Science) which also had an outstanding practical sessions regarding both.. After the sessions students was done the return demonstration of the same and students got a very well experience in pediatric advanced life support..

On 25th November 2022, Mrs Aswani.B( Assistant professor  Nehru College of Nursing)  had a session regarding ‘Drowning’.  Which was followed by a session regarding‘foreign body aspiration and chocking’,  by   Mr. Mathws . P.Joy( Registered Nurse, princess Royal Hospital, Heywards Health, England)  after that Dr. Nandhini  Mannadath( Assistant professor, Department of Nursing, College of Health and Sports sciences, university of Bahrain, Manamma, Kingdom of Bahrain ) dealt with  a session on  ‘poisoning, In the  afternoon sessions students had a detailed practical sessions of chocking and drowning Management by Mrs. Krishnapraba, P.K (Lecture Nehru College Of Nursing). last sessions of the work shop  regarding Pediatric Trauma was done by Mrs. Rani. GS,( Assistant professor, Nehru College of Nursing.)

More than 160 delegates got benefited with this 2 days work shop on childhood emergencies. Basic life support and advanced life support are essential emergency management skills for medical workers, and pediatricians. &  skills can be improved through a good effective  emergency knowledge training  program like this.
