Silver Jubilee Celebration
Nehru Arts and Science College (Autonomous) organized Silver Jubilee Celebration on 14.08.2022 at 10.30 am in the P. K. Das Memorial Auditorium. This College was established in the year 1998 by Late P. K. Das and has grown into a very large Educational Institution where not only the people of this region but also the students from other states are getting the best education and enriching themselves.
Nehru Arts and Science College got Autonomous authority from Bharatiyar University in 2017. Following this, DBT was awarded Star Grade as a co-educational college by receiving “A” GRADE from (NAAC). It has also achieved top position in Atal Ranking. Following this, we are proud to announce that the College has ranked 150 to 200 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

- E. Mr. CLAUDIO ANSORENA, Ph.D. Ambassador of Costa Rica to India was the Chief Guest of the day. In his chief guest address, he expressed his happiness for attending the Silver Jubilee Celebration and wished the NGI to achieve many more developments in future.

25 Glorious Years of Academic Excellence…
The Nehru Arts and Science College, which carried the flag of transformation in the field of higher education, is entering a quarter century of operational excellence and dedication. This is a historic moment for the campus, which has international standards in academic and co-academic activities. Thousands of students have already studied various subjects at Nehru College, which is on the verge of its silver jubilee celebrations. This premier educational institution in South India is now a favorite destination for international students. The Nehru Arts and Science College was started in 1998 as part of the Nehru Group of Institutions founded by eminent scholar and noted educationist late Shri. P. K. Das. The college, which started modestly with four programs and 54 students with headquarters in Coimbatore, has seen gradual growth since then. His legacy is being taken up by his children, Adv. Dr. P. Krishna Das is the Chairman and Managing Trustee and Dr. P. Krishna Kumar is the CEO and Secretary.
EXCELLENCE
The college is affiliated with Bharathiar University, Tamil Nadu, which operates with the approval of the UGC. The college with ISO and NAAC A grade accreditations received autonomous status in 2017. Today, around 4,000 students from arts, science, commerce, and management subjects are part of the campus. The college offers 22 UG programmes and 8 PG programmes. In addition, 10 M.Phil programs and 9 Ph.D. programs are part of the college.
MILESTONES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The achievements and recognitions that the college has received in its history since its inception till the date are numerous. Within 10 years of the college’s establishment; NAAC has accredited the college with B Grade. The same year NASC has started the Best Faculty Award to commemorate the Birth of our Founder. Secured 14 ranks including one gold medal in the university Examination held in 2011. Started ESISTENZA the inter school cultural extravaganza for the states of Kerala and Tamilnadu.
In 2012, Initiated PRAPTHI for Honouring the University Rank holders. Best teacher’s award was initiated to recognize the School Teachers. Inaugurated the first Nehru Dream Home (The Home for the Homeless, in the nearby villages) In 2013. The college launched the Amuta Surabhi scheme (3 Meal everyday for 50 destitute villagers on the occasion of its Founder’s Day. Regular classrooms are upgraded to Smart Classrooms to improve the teaching quality, which has grabbed a lot of attention at the moment.
In 2014, NASC got Accredited by NAAC 2nd Cycle with A grade. In the same year we have also started, OBT training by establishing the Largest OBT facility NOBLE (Nehru Out Bound Training) in the country.
In 2015, NASC was able to establish HCL Centre of Excellence. With a love towards nature, the college took lot of initiatives to preserve Nature inside the campus, for this great initiative the college received Nature Conservation Award.
In 2016, College received Indian Red Cross appreciation for its valuable service. By this time NASC had established a strong alumni network all over the world, to make the bond stronger the college registered its Alumni Association and named it “Samagamam ” .
2017 was a remarkable year in the history of NASC wherein the college was granted Autonomous status as a golden addition to the list of achievements. In the same year, the Nehru Centre for Women’s Excellence also started.
In 2018, Nehru College was selected as one of the top 10 private institutions in the country by Knowledge Review Magazine. In the same year, the college was awarded the Star College Scheme Status, by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, by receiving a grant of Rs. 82 lacs. The college received the most prestigious UN Awards for Women excellence in Higher Education. Adding to this, the college received lot of laurels including: Best College Award by Indywood, India Today Ranking, etc.
Among the last fifteen years, the NASC students have secured 400 ranks, and in 2019; the college secured 60 ranks, including 10 gold medals which is highest among Bharathiar University Colleges. The college encourages students in all co and extracurricular activities, as a result Lijo, a BBA student, was selected for training in Spain and now he is playing in Chennai ISL team.
In 2020, the college is recognized as the Mentor Institution and Rural Entrepreneurship Development Cell, by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The college has taken continuous effort to be an eco friendly campus, to ensure this all audits like Green campus, Hygiene, Energy, Eco Audit is conducted and certified by Nature Science Foundation. Now the college is a role model college for conducting all audits and is recognized by NSF as BEST COLLEGE.
In 2021 the college is ranked by premier ranking agencies in India, Costume design and BBA Department was ranked at National Level.
This year while celebrating the silver jubilee, the Nehru Arts and Science College has made a mark by entering in “India pride book of records’ and received certificate for a Worlds longest multinational confluence. The college is ranked as BAND PERFORMER in Atal Ranking of institutions on innovation, by Government of India. Department of Commerce Ranked 25th in south India by The Week Magazine survey. To add a Golden feather to the cap of NASC, we the college in ranked among the top 200 colleges among India by NIRF.
ART AND CULTURE
The students of Nehru College have always been at the forefront in the field of art and culture by establishing an exclusive Fine Arts Club. Talents day is organized to create Platform to identify the Cultural interest of first year students. FESTEMBER and FANTABULOUS an Intercollegiate cultural meet are conducted every year in the month of September. These events are the charm of NASC which has attracted widespread attention Nationwide. Around 2000 students participate every year in the event with various art forms. The college conducts Cultural exchange with other state and North Indian Colleges. NASC celebrates all days of National and International importance and all major festivals of India.
PLACEMENTS AND INDUSTRY RELATIONS
Under Nehru Corporate Placements and Industry Relations, placements on a large scale to various companies within and outside the country are an attraction to the students. In last 15 years we have received 8000 offer letters to our NASC students.
Combined with literary heritage and operational excellence, Nehru Arts and Science College is marching closer to its goal of becoming a new premier university on the soil of Tamil Nadu. College authorities and students are adding hopes to new heights in the glow of the silver jubilee…
