Constitution Day – Nehru Academy of Law
Every year 26th November is celebrated as “Constitution Day” or “Samvidhan Divas” by the Government of India. Nehru Academy of Law one of the premier law institutein Kerala also joined this year to celebrate the Constitution day. The purpose behind conducting this celebration was to make the students aware about the importance of fundamental rights and duties of a citizen as envisaged in Indian Constitution.
As a part of this, an essay writing competition for college students and higher secondary students was organized on 24th November 2018 and quiz competition on Indian Constitution for higher secondary students on 26th November 2018 at Nehru Academy of Law campus. For essay writing competition, 241 students from various higher secondary schools and 120 students from various colleges had participated. For the quiz competition, 30 teams comprising of 2 students each participated amongst which 6 teams were selected to the final round. On 26th November 2018, at 2pm, a valedictory function was conducted and the results were announced.
The function was inaugurated by Justice ChetturSankaran Nair ( Former Judge, High Court of Kerala) and presided by Dr. R.C. Krishnakumar, Director, PK Das Institute of Medical Sciences.
The First prize for Essay writing competition (HSE) was bagged by Anjana A of Carmel CMI School, Shoranur and was awarded Rs. 2000 as cash prize along with a memento and certificate. SoumyaSree M, of SNPS, Elapully (Rs. 1500, memento and certificate) and Abhijna P of C.A. HSS, Kuzhalmannam (Rs. 1000, memento and certificate) bagged the second and third prizes respectively.
At college level, the first prize for essay writing was bagged by Anjana K of NSS College, Ottapalam and was awarded Rs. 2000 as cash prize along with a memento and certificate. Princy A.F. of VRKE Law College, Nenmara and Sreelakshmi M.A of Nehru Academy of Law bagged the second and third places respectively.
The First place for Quiz competition comprising of cash prize of Rs.2000, memento and certificate was secured by T.R.K.HSS, Vaniyamkulam. Bharathmatha HSS, Palakkad (Rs. 1500, memento and certificate) and SNPS, Elapully(Rs. 1000, memento and certificate) bagged second and third places respectively.
